Snapping Hip Syndrome

What is it?

This is the term given to the click or pop made by the Tensor Fascia Latae (TFL) slipping over the greater trochanter. 

What are the causes?

It may also be due to the iliopsoas muscle rolling over the hip joint. 

What are the symptoms?

It is painless unless repeated irritation has inflamed the fascia.  If symptomatic, symptoms may present as a trochanteric bursitis.
